OXFORD SPACE SYSTEMS CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL DEPLOYMENT OF YAGI ANTENNA ON YMIR-1 MISSION

Oxford Space Systems, a leading UK-based space technology company, is pleased to announce from the SmallSat Conference in Logan, Utah, the successful deployment of its Yagi antenna on the Ymir-1 satellite. The Ymir-1 mission, developed in collaboration with AAC Clyde Space, Saab, and ORBCOMM, is a pioneering effort to enhance maritime communication through the VHF Data Exchange System (VDES).


The Yagi antenna, designed and manufactured by Oxford Space Systems, features proprietary materials and techniques that deliver a lightweight, high-gain structure capable of compact stowage within a 1U CubeSat unit. Upon deployment, the antenna optimises performance across the 156.5 MHz to 162.5 MHz VDES frequency band, facilitating robust maritime communication from a variety of vessels worldwide.
